Hmm, Perhaps contact a legal office that could find out the copyright rules for that...if you are not wishing to make a profit on these shirts then it might be alright.
If you are looking for orginal art as your design I might be able to help with that. I have already drawn one of my original 'smurfette' characters swinging a vollyball on her finger.
