I chose to give him the name Culliford Smurf (the last name of his creator Pierrot "Peyo" Culliford)as his pre-Papa Smurf period name for the EMPATH: THE LUCKIEST SMURF story.

Let's not forget. Grandpa couldn't always have been called Grandpa and also, there must have been a lot more other Smurflings around the time when Papa was a Smurfling.

One possible name I just thought of that would be appropriate for Papa Smurf's pre-Papa Smurf name would be Abraham, which means "father of many".

He never was little in the cartoon series, so we'll never really know if he had a different name, but it's likely. Maybe he was Wizard Smurf.
