American & Canadian Versions of Smurfy Lemon Scratch 'n' Sniff Stickers. There are two different variations of Smurf Scratch 'n Sniff Stickers to collect - American and Canadian versions. American Scratch-n-Sniff stickers always have smurfy words on two of the three Smurf stickers (the first and third). Notice that under the Smurf Lemon sticker it reads, "Lemon" and under the Papa Smurf Lemon sticker it reads, "Smurfy!". The Canadian stickers have no words, sayings, or writing on the stickers at all, just the Smurf pictures. The American Smurf sticker package is in English only and the Canadian version of the package is in English and French. From the 1980s.
Smurf Trivia: During the 1980s, Canadian law required both English and French on the stickers and packaging so all text was removed from the stickers in Canada. Why was the text removed? Simple - there was not enough room on the sticker for both languages.
