The Smurfs: I've Got a Little Puppy Cassette Single. Did you know? In 1996, Britain released "The Smurfs Go Pop" album which made it into the Billboard charts. Some may argue that this smurfy achievement was due to the Top Ten single called "I've Got a Little Puppy". The original song track was called, "I Wanna Be a Hippy" and was changed into the Smurf song, "I've Got a Little Puppy". Like many Smurf songs, an original popular song is smurfed into a children-friendly version Smurf song. This "I've Got a Little Puppy" song was controversial at the time because the original lyrics are "I wanna take a hit / mara- marajuana" but it was was "smurfed" into the new lyrics "I take him for a walk / pooper pooper scooper." Well, now you know!
