National Gas Smurf. It's service with a Smurf! This Super Smurf box set advertises the "National Gas" petrol station. The Smurf figure wears white coveralls with the "National" logo on the front and carries a red rag. The service gas pump also shows the "National" logo. What a fun kit! National Gas Station Promo Smurf.
The History of National Smurfs: In the 1970s, National petrol stations in the UK provided "service with a Smurf" - a free Smurf figurine with gasoline purchase. National offered many other Smurf promotional items besides figurines - such as posters, stickers, and keyrings. National was owned by Shell and BP at the time, and when the two companies split, the National name was slowly phased out of use. However, in 1992 the Scottish company NEF licensed the brand from BP, and the petrol station was reborn!
Schönwald Smurf-A-Gram. The Schönwald Smurf-a-grams advertise a resort in the Black Forest of Germany. The blue triangle base reads, "Schönwald - Top of Black Forest". Shown here, the 2.0459 Nameplate Smurf stands on top of the Schönwald base. It is unique because the sign bears the signature of Olympic Ski Jumper, Christof Duffner. The other Schönwald Smurf-A-Grams show various Smurf figures on top of the same Schönwald base (see the list below). Collection of Schonwald Promo Smurfs.
